Professional Experience

I am a Licensed Social Worker in the state of Indiana. I received my BS in Psychology from the University of Evansville, and my Masters in Social Work from the University of Southern Indiana. I have previously worked in the fields of mental health, addictions, and school social work.

In 2003 I became a mother through the miracle of international adoption. My husband and I chose for me to stay at home to care for our son. While I loved being home with him, I missed some of the aspects of the working world. I began working less than part-time for my former professor who did Adoption Home Studies. I have experience doing Home Studies, Home Visits, and Post Placement Visits. It is a privilege to have a small role in joining wonderful children to wonderful families.

I started Adoption Paper Chaser in early 2006 as a way to use my knowledge and experience to help families move quickly and easily through the dossier stage of their adoption. I have been blessed to be part of the adoption journeys of many families across the US and US residents living abroad. I enjoy working with these families through the intense dossier stage, but the biggest blessing is seeing these beautiful children come home to their forever families. I hope that I can alleviate some of your stress and accelerate this first step in bringing your baby home.

Personal Connection to Adoption

Adoption has been in my heart for as long as I can remember. As an only child I use to ask (beg) my parents to adopt a sibling for me. Adoption, particularly international adoption, was not as accessible back then. When I was in college, my aunt adopted a beautiful baby girl from China. This baby was such a miracle and blessing to our family. She undoubtedly made the biggest impact of any child in my life (until my own children came along.) My aunt and her husband, who came along after the baby, went on to have a darling biological child and to later adopt again from China, this time a precious boy who my husband and I are blessed to have as our Godson.

Shortly after my husband and I were married we decided that we wanted to start our family through adoption. Our adoption was very challenging and at times heartbreaking. It was a much longer and emotionally wrenching process than we initially expected, but the wonderful end result, our precious son, made it all worth while. We were blessed to bring our son home from Guatemala in December 2003. Our lives have been so blessed with happiness, laughter, fun, excitement joy and some hair raising experiences along the way. In August, 2005 we welcomed our biological daughter into our family. We now know there is no greater joy than seeing our children, undeniably siblings in all the ways that matter, make each other laugh. God has greatly blessed my life and continues to daily.
